Sri Lanka Cricket has granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to three players for the upcoming Indian Premier League, while four others remain subject to fitness clearance.
Out of the seven Sri Lankan players who secured IPL contracts this season, Kamindu Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, and Dushmantha Chameera have been officially granted permission to participate in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Eshan Malinga, and Wanindu Hasaranga will only be allowed to take part in the IPL if they successfully pass their required fitness tests. This was confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva following an inquiry.
According to the existing agreement, if the four pending players receive clearance and participate in the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will be required to pay approximately USD 2.5 million, which represents 10% of the players’ contract values, to Sri Lanka Cricket.
For the three players already granted NOCs, the Indian board is expected to pay close to USD 600,000 to Sri Lanka Cricket.
The decision highlights Sri Lanka Cricket’s continued emphasis on player fitness and workload management, while also ensuring financial benefits through international franchise participation.
