Sri Lanka Women’s Team Departs for the 2nd U19 Women’s T20 World Cup

The Sri Lanka Women’s U19 team has departed to participate in the 2nd U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in Malaysia.

The Sri Lankan squad, captained by Manudi Nanayakkara from Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa, comprises 15 players and one traveling reserve.

Sri Lanka has been placed in Group A, alongside India, West Indies, and Malaysia. The tournament features four groups, with each group consisting of four teams.

The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 6 stage. The Super 6 round consists of two groups, each comprising six teams.

In the Super 6 stage, teams will compete in a diagonal format, meaning:

  • A1 will play against D2 and D3
  • A2 will face D1 and D3
  • A3 will take on D1 and D2

This format adds an extra layer of excitement as teams face new opponents from other groups.

Before the main event, Sri Lanka will play two warm-up matches:

  • January 13 against Bangladesh
  • January 15 against Samoa
