Sri Lanka Women’s Team Departs for T20I and ODI Series in Ireland

The Sri Lanka women’s team is set to depart for their T20I and ODI series in Ireland. The series will include 2 T20s and 3 ODIs. The T20s will be played on August 11th and 13th in Dublin, while the ODIs will take place on August 16th, 18th, and 20th in Belfast.

Sri Lanka has named a squad of 16 players for this tour, with Chamari Athapaththu leading the side. However, she will not participate in the T20I series due to commitments with the Oval Invincibles team in The Hundred tournament. Anushka Sanjeewani, the wicketkeeper and veteran player, will lead the team in the T20s. Chamari will rejoin the team for the ODIs.

The 3 ODIs are part of the Women’s Championship, which serves as a selection tournament for the next Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025. If Sri Lanka wins the ODI series 3-0, they will have a greater chance of automatically qualifying for the World Cup.
